Club Information
The Memphis Prop Busters has a history than spans several decades, and several flying sites. The club has been located in Memphis, Collerville, and is now located in Lakeland, TN. The club has called it's current flying site home since the late 90's, and has worked hard in providing one of the nicest flying sites in this part of the country. With clear apporaches to either end, and a wide fly-over area, the 650X115 ft grass runway provides plenty of space for even the largest aircraft, as well as turbine powered models. Our members fly everything from micro electrics all the way up through 40% and turbine aircraft.
There are two helicopter pads located off the north and south ends of the field, which provide additional room. In addition to the ample parking, the south helicopter pad has a large gate to accomodate overflow parking for events. The runway, helicopter pads, and pit areas are professionally maintained, and truly resemble a golf course. Those who come from a club where members share responsibility for grass care understand how valuable it is to never have to worry about cutting the grass on a July day in Memphis. Our grass runway is smooth enough for turbine jets, and several members fly them regularly.
The parking lot is hard-packed gravel and is wide enough to accomodate members with trailers. As more members begin using trailers, we have begun work to improve parking further.
There are two picnic pavillions for spectators, and three pilot's pavillions, with the center one housing the announcement board, first aid kit, and frequency board. We have numerous work/startup stands, chairs, and picnic tables available. The club also pays for trash collection and porta-potty service. We also have running water and 110VAC electricity on site.

The membership of the Memphis Prop Busters is an incredibly diverse group. Our members fly literally every type of aircraft in the RC hobby: sport, pattern, IMAC, warbirds, giant scale, 3D, turbines, helicopters, micro and giant scale electrics, autogyros, and even the blimp for the University of Memphis Tigers. Regardless of the type of aircraft you enjoy, you will feel right at home here. Many of our members have been flyin for years, but we do have some grade-school members who have just begun. Regardless of your age or flying style, you can find a flying buddy here.
We strive to maintain a fun and friendly environment for both members and guests, regardless of flying style or ability. We also have several members who design and sell kits of their own aircraft, along with many other accomplished builders and pilots. If you're just getting started in the hobby, you'll have no shortage of expertise to learn from. In fact, from March through October, the club hosts a training day on the second Saturday of each month from 9AM until 12 noon where potential pilots can try their hand at RC for free. Regular club instruction can be had at any time by contacting one of the instructors
