Memphis Prop Busters

Whether you're new to the Memphis Area, or new to the hobby, finding the right club can make all the difference in enjoying the hobby. We hope the following outline will help highlight some of the positive features of the Memphis Prop Busters.

Our Flying Site
1. The Memphis Prop Busters maintains one of the nicest flying fields in this part of the country
2. We offer a professionally maintained 650X115 ft North/South grass runway capable of supporting tubines, and large giant scale models. All weekly lawn care is handled by professional companies. That means you never have to worry about missing your day to cut the grass
3. All flying is done facing East, which makes us a morning field
4. The flying field has two helicopter pads on the North and South ends of the field to support both helicopters and 3D during crowded times
5. Our flyover area is free from nearby obstructions or no-fly-zones. Plus, we have no restrictions on what time of the day you may fly.
6. The club provides various ameneties at the flying site such as chairs, picnic tables, work stands/startup benches, pavillions, porta-potty, trash collection, and water.

Our Location
1. The flying site on Inglewood Road, formally Old Airline Road, is only a few minutes east of the Wolfchase Mall, which hosts many resteraunts and retail stores.
2. The field is easily and quickly accessable from East Memphis, Germantown, Millington, Collierville, Cordova, Bartlett, Arlington, and Lakeland. The field is less than 20 minutes from most areas of Memphis.

Our Membership
1. The Propbusters has a very diverse membership. There are members who fly turbines, helicopters, warbirds, 3D, giant scale, blimps, pattern, sport flying, and represent every aspect of the RC hobby.
2. We have been frequently complimented on how friendly and welcoming the members are to newcomers.
3. We have many members who are available as club instructors to help new pilots learn, or to pass on a helpful hint to a seasoned RC'er.
4. The membership as a whole has a real passion for the hobby. We strive to host events and maintain an attitude that not only benefits the club, but the hobby as a whole.

Club Structure
1. Both our Officers and membership realize that people are in the hobby to fly and have fun. For that reason, we strive to make it as easy as possible to both join the Propbusters, and to be a member.
2. We have no initiation fees, interview process, or other unnecessary hoops to jump through when joining.
3. The club has at least 4 meetings a year, and although attendance is encouraged, it isn't mandatory. We do strive to keep the meetings as short as possible though. The club doesn't get caught up in politics easily.
4. Our dues are only $125 for regular members, with discounts given for junior, family, and senior members. This entitles members to be able to fly at any time, day or night, and on any day of the year, excluding special organized events. It also includes free instruction, if needed.

 

In conclusion, the Propbusters Officers and membership make every effort to maintain the best flying site possible and to make sure every member's enjoyment of the hobby isn't hampered by unnecessary restrictions or politics. In other words, we're here to enjoy flying!
